Goodbye Funky_ass
Cannot believe in an instant- my identity has changed…from funky_ass to Miss_54632
I have decided that after 8 long years… it was time to say goodbye to “funky_ass”… because let’s face it, my journey as funky_ass has come to a complete end. It’s a username I created on a whim when I needed to join a certain forum almost 10 years ago. I remember being sick at home, on my desktop (oh, how times have changed) looking around my room for inspiration… and who knew a $10 mini skirt would give me the identity that would carry on for a decade?
However it was June 2004 was when I first blogged:
my first ever blog on xanga was to complain about the cost of petrol (cannot believe that 8 years ago I was complaining about 97cent a litre of petrol).
But most of you wouldn’t have access to seeing that very first post. Many of these early years have been locked away, marked either as PRIVATE or PROTECTED. There are some who have the extra access to this xanga where they can see the “protected” posting however there are years worth now which have been marked as Private and probably won’t ever see the light of day again unless of course something drastic happens to xanga and somehow it’s read-able. There are no measures to change them to public viewing, it’s not that I have anything to hide, just the fact that there are literally HUNDREDS of posts I’d have to individually have update over to “public” viewing, something I just don’t have the time to do.
8 years- I’ve seen:
- myself age dramatically (hahah what did you expect me to say? LOL).
- when I first started this blog, I owned a Holden Barina(2004-2007), Holden Astra (2007-2010) and Mazda 2 (2010-current)
- Like my car ownership, I went through 3 major relationships (basically follow the car timeline.. which will give you a basic understanding of how long things kinda lasted- give or take)- changing cars had nothing to do with the boyfriends.
- From the time I started this blog I was working in a call centre as IT tech support (hahah, how I manage to even land this job considering I am a complete ditz when it comes to technology…i can never comprehend), where I landed in a role working at a large private health insurance company, then onto a large salary packaging firm, an investment firm and later onto 2 other salary packaging/finance firms.
- It was also the same time where I started my job at a large bedding retailer and had only quit at the end of last year (8 years there too)
And it seems that 2012 is not only the year for an identity change on xanga:
1. I’ve changed jobs
2. I’ve changed bedrooms (been in the same room for the last 11 years!)
3. I got engaged
And you know what… as much as I’m sad to see “funky_ass” disappear into the unknown world (I believe it’s up for grabs if anyone else wants it).. haha just realized it’s probably going to bugger up the hyperlinks that urbanspoon uses for my site (but whatever).. change is as good as a holiday. Plus it’s perhaps more fitting as I slowly creep into my 30′s (i’m nearly there) and funky_ass just sounds so wrong as you get older.. actually i don’t think it sounded right ever! But I was 19 when I created it.. so not very creative or mature!
It’s going to take a lot of getting used to, to remember logging in as miss_54632! however, it’s almost like a new beginning but not quite!
fun fact: 54632 is actually how you spell my name (use your phone!). My fiance might argue i should have changed to MRS (but that just makes me sound so OLD).. maybe when i’m 60 (and that’s if I’m still blogging)
